The Silver Dollar is a great looking aquarium fish with characteristic disc-shaped body and glistening silver colouration. Grows to a massive size of approximately 15cm. Both sexes look similar, mature females have red edged anal fins, whereas males have clear slightly ragged looking anal fins.

Being blind is no hindrance to this active tetra, as it expertly detects food items by scent. It has a very healthy appetite and sometimes may nip long finned fish in its enthusiasm to eat. An easy to keep species growing to 8-9cm, suitable tankmates should be other hardy types of similar size.

The maximum size of the peaceful Cochu Blue Tetra is approximately 5cm. Once established in stable aquaria, they are easily kept. It is best to add live blackworms and frozen bloodworms to their diet, although a good quality dry food is acceptable.
