Mature C. Borleyi males are larger, more colourful, and develop extended finnage. They are commonly found in Lake Malawi and can grow up to 20cm in length.

They are primarily associated with rocky areas or isolated boulders in quite shallow (5-20 metres depth) water. It shoals in the open water in large numbers, often alongside other species.

To keep this fish happy, keep the water alkaline, temperature between 25 to 29 degrees and provide a varied diet.
