7CM MALE YELLOW PEACOCK

Male Yellow Peacocks display a yellow or gold body, often with some blue markings around the mouth and body.

They are generally found living where the rocky shoreline transitions into the more sandy substrate of the lake bottom. To eat, Yellow Peacocks sift through the sand substrate by pushing the sand through their gills and extracting small invertebrates hidden in the sand.

Peacocks are very popular aquarium fish, because of their lively behaviour, bright colours, shapes, size and intelligence. They are however semi-aggressive and territorial therefore they should not be kept with small or peaceful fish and should be kept either on their own, or in a community of similar sized Malawi Cichlids.

In their natural habitat, most Peacocks are smaller than 10cm - a few species may reach 13cm however some males may grow up to 15cm or more.

To keep this fish happy, keep the water alkaline, temperature between 24 to 26 degrees and provide a varied diet.
