Widely grown in aquaculture, and often utilized as an undemanding fish for farm dam stocking. Suitable for the unheated aquarium containing other larger species, it is a hardy and active species. Omnivorous, will eat a wide range of foods. Usually grows to 30-40cm, can grow larger.
